Cutting-edge craftsmanship
Used to pierce the leather to create holes for saddler stitching, awls are vital tools for saddler leatherworkers.
There are two types: round awls, which are used in corners, and diamond awls, which give traditional saddle stitching its slightly angled appearance.
There's no doubt about it: the best awls are the oldest awls, passed down from one expert leatherworker to another. Decades of use leave an indelible mark on their handles. Here at Atelier Renard, some of our awls are more than a hundred years old.
