New artistic collection: an exclusive collaboration with Hyun Jeung

Working with the artist Hyun Jeung, we wanted to prove that a bag can be a work of art in its own right.

Changer de regard : une collaboration exclusive avec Hyun Jeung

A bag is often reduced to its primary purpose: a means of storage. But could it ever be considered a work of art in its own right?

That’s the question which inspired our work with Hyun Jeung, a South Korean artist based in Paris, whose work we love.

Hyun was born in South Korea and grew up there. Now based in Paris, she explores the beauty of impermanence and the poetry of the natural world through printmaking.

Although printmaking is traditionally a reproductive medium, Hyun takes a different approach and produces unique woodblock prints. The original matrix provides a foundation, but every print has its own unique character. Each one offers variations on a theme, inspired by elements from the natural world, and often features Korean calligraphy which is scattered throughout:

“Korean characters fall like raindrops. With every beat, a sound rings out, quietly replacing the previous one and heralding the next. These sounds may have meaning, but what I hear above all is their music, their colours, their rhythm.”

This philosophy appealed to us because it reflects our vision of working on unique pieces and letting the material inspire an artistic vision of the piece it creates.

The result is a limited collection of unique bags, with colours which complement the woodblock printed design, like a painting.
